History
My name is Joseph LaRoy. I have been in the garage door business since 1971. Looking back over the years, I never would have imagined all the changes. When I started out, I was a mere 22 years old. Back then, you could buy a nice pickup truck for about $1800 and gas was around 35 cents per gallon.
Yes, much has changed in my life and in the door industry. I, along with my wife Jean, are owners of LaRoy Door & Contracting. We have six children, of which four work for the company. So, we are a family owned and operated business.
I was raised up on a farm, as was my father, and his father before him. When I was able, shortly after I married, I too bought a farm. I worked that farm and for a garage door company for many years. In all these years I have gained much experience in the garage door business.
In the year 1999, I thought I would semi-retire and open a small one-man operation; and as a licensed builder I thought I would also incorporate that part into my own garage door business. LaRoy Door & Contracting has grown into a business employing ten people and a small fleet of trucks. I am not semi-retired anymore. The business has moved off the farm and into a 13,000 square foot building.
We sell, service and install garage doors and door openers. We have added Central Vacuum Systems and have a fully staffed office and showroom. We also have a full time service department with the most experience in town.
Yes, we have changed a lot and I suspect we will keep moving forward and growing in the upcoming years as well. There are some things I vow to never change. We have a commitment to the people. Whether it be to a builder, developer, business, or homeowner, we stand behind our products and service to the best of our abilities. That is why the products we sell and the service and installations we provide are no less than what we ourselves would accept. As Christians, we stand on honesty and integrity and still believe our word is our bond.
I hope this short note will give you an overview of LaRoy Door and get a feel for our pride and commitment. I still enjoy installing and working on garage doors. As often as I am able, I make excuses to go and help out my team. Maybe in the future I will semi-retire again, but for now I am still around and you can reach me in the office… just ask for "Joe"… the old one!!
